Nebula Crawler (Nebula) on Solana is a utility-focused project spearheaded by Dennis Trautwein, a physicist and software engineer, working on peer-to-peer systems as part of a PhD endeavor. The project aims to study node heterogeneity in Peer-To-Peer networks, particularly IPFS and Filecoin, funded by Protocol Labs. Dennis has an extensive background in working with technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, Golang, and Terraform, and has contributed to the development and successful launch of the Mercedes Benz Mobile SDK. As a research engineer at Protocol Labs, he is currently involved in studying, designing, and proposing measurement methodologies to quantify the healthy operation of libp2p protocols for IPFS, Filecoin, and other platforms. The project’s architecture includes a bootstrapped Kubernetes infrastructure based on EKS, ArgoCD, Terraform, and GitHub-Actions, showcasing a strong focus on technical development and innovation in peer-to-peer systems.
